Bali to establish disaster management board

Denpasar, Bali Province (ANTARA News) – Bali will soon set up a Disaster Management Board (BPB) in line with the Law No.24/2007, Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika said here on Friday.

He said the board would soon be established in an effort to minimize various social problems, fatality and material loss inflicted by natural disaster in the province.

“The establishment of the Disaster Management Board is based on meticulous planning and study, and it is expected to be effective in the middle of this year,”

the governor said.

He said the existence of such a board was of great importance for Bali as the main tourist destination in Indonesia.

“The new board is expected to be able to map disaster-prone areas in the province and to study the possible risk from a disaster,”

Governor Pastika said.

According to the governor, Bali has always been in full alert to anticipate possible disaster which may occur anytime.

“We always make coordination with related institutions regarding available facilities to cope with natural disaster,”

the governor said, adding that the province would soon have a sophisticated technology and facility to manage the disaster and ensure security and safety of the local people and visiting tourists.
