The cool spring pools at Tirtagangga is situated some 15 KM northwest of Amlapura, on the way to Singaraja. The spring pools which refer to sacred river of the Hindus are somewhat refreshing.

Here, vegetables, fruits, and flowers thrive in the alpine climate, and a colorful little market at Bukit Mungsu offers a wide selection of produce including exotic wild orchids, roses, and colorful birds. There is a large botanical garden nearby.

A number of temples in Bali are well known for being the residences of monkey population. Name one is the monkey forest in Sangeh Village, 21 KM away from Denpasar. The resident monkeys are told to be the guardians of Pura Bukit Sari.
